As quoted from Huffingtonpost, The Design Museum - London's innovative center for exhibitions and education, has released a list of nominees 'Designs of the Year 2012'. The award will be given to them or work of art that has the most extraordinary designs since the year 2011 in seven categories, namely architecture, digital, fashion, furniture, graphics as well as transportation and products.
Of all the thousands of fashion works created during the year 2011, ranging from high-street brand through a series of runway fashion, only ten designs that successfully entered into the nomination. One of them, specially made wedding dress for the Duchess of Cambridge by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen fashion house.
Ironically, Kate's wedding dress must 'compete' against some other Alexander McQueen design. 'Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty' fashion exhibition that was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, also entered the fashion category in the list of nominees.
The exhibition was created to commemorate Alexander McQueen, who died in 2010. Managed to attract many visitors as 661,509 people, the exhibition is called as the most popular exhibits for 141 years.
The Design Museum announced that the work of the nominees 'Designs of the Year 2012' will be showcased, including video playback on tour 'Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty' on February 8 until July 15, 2012. Unfortunately, the wedding dress Kate Middleton will not attend the exhibition due to security issues.
